Knights Drop Saturday's Game to Stripers 7-3

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped game five of their six-game series to the Gwinnett Stripers by a score of 7-3 on Saturday night from Truist Field. Catcher Seby Zavala launched his first home run of the season for the Knights, a two-run shot in the seventh inning.

Charlotte LHP Matt Tomshaw (0-1, 8.44) was perfect over his first four innings of the game, but ran into trouble in the sixth. After allowing just one run over five innings, Tomshaw was charged with four of the five runs in the sixth inning. In all, he gave up five runs on six hits over 5.1 innings and was saddled with the loss. Relievers Ryan Burr and Danny Dopico each tossed a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.

Zavala finished the game 1-for-4 with the home run and two RBIs. Zavala has now hit safely in all four games he's played in so far this season. He's batting .294 on the season.

The Stripers tallied four home runs on the night. Third baseman Johan Camargo hit two of the four homers.

The Knights and Stripers will conclude their series on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. from Truist Field. RHP Jimmy Lambert is scheduled to get the start for the Knights. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and CharlotteKnights.com. The game will also be broadcast live on WMYT starting at 2:00 p.m. Gates for the game open at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
