Jackals' Johnson Loaned To Rochester

February 6, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Elmira Jackals News Release

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that right wing Chaz Johnson has been loaned to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League for their home game tonight at Blue Cross Arena against the Syracuse Crunch. Johnson is expected to rejoin the Jackals for their two road games this weekend in Johnstown Friday and Saturday in Reading.

Johnson, 24, is currently tied for fourth in team scoring with 25 points on 15 goals and 10 assists. His 10 goals ranks third on the club while totaling a team-high 171 penalty minutes (2nd - ECHL). His rise in the Jackals' scoring race was due mainly to a recent 10-game point scoring streak that totaled 10 goals and six assists.

The streak began with a two-goal effort, including the game-winner, December 9th in a 3-1 victory in Wheeling, was interrupted by a four-game stint on the injured reserve along with a three-game loan to Binghamton (AHL), and concluded with an assist in in a loss to Trenton January 25th. The signature performance during the streak was a three-goal effort in a 4-3 home ice win over division rival Cincinnati January 12th at First Arena.

It will be the third call to the American Hockey League this season for Johnson. In two separate call-ups with the Binghamton Senators, Johnson was pointless in five games with a -3 rating and no penalty minutes.
