Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ (February 6, 2008) - The Trenton Devils will be hosting the final game of the Seventh Annual Trentonian Cup on Saturday, February 16th at Sovereign Bank Arena. Hockey fans throughout Mercer County can come and support the hockey stars of the future before seeing the Trenton Devils take on the Gwinnett Gladiators.
The Trentonian Cup Finals feature the two-time defending champion Notre Dame Mighty Irish and the Hopewell Valley Bulldogs. The winner will receive the top prize in the Colonial Valley Conference.
The action begins with a skills competition featuring players from the whole conference on February 16th beginning at 12:00 noon. Afterwards, Notre Dame and Hopewell Valley take to the ice for the final game, with the puck dropping at 3:00. Once the Trentonian Cup has been awarded to the winner, fans can catch the Trenton Devils against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:00 in a non-division game.
On February 2nd, the top four teams of the CVC competed to determine the final matchup. In the first semifinal, Hopewell Valley rolled past the Steinart Spartans by a score of 7-2. The Mighty Irish then defeated the West Windsor-Plainsboro North Knights 6-3 in the second contest.
Tickets for the Skills Competition and Finals are available at the door for $9.50. Doors will open one hour prior to the opening event. Each ticket is valid for the Skills Competition and the Trentonian Cup finals plus admission to the Devils-Gladiators game that evening.
There will also be a raffle for a suite to a future Trenton Devils game. Tickets will be sold throughout the day but entrants must be present at the Devils game in order to win.
The Trenton Devils will be going on a three-game road trip this weekend but return to host the American Conference-leading Texas Wildcatters at Sovereign Bank Arena Tuesday, February 12 at 7:00pm. Full and partial ticket plans for the 2007-08 season are available by calling 609-599-9500.
