Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Frenso Falcons seven-game home winning streak came to an end on Tuesday, as the Falcons fell to the Utah Grizzles 4-3 in a shootout in front of 3,820 fans at Save Mart Center. Fresno remains unbeaten in regulation in its last nine home games (7-0-2).

Fresno outshot Utah 18-5 in the first period, and took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. At the 4:03 mark, Matt Quinn won a face-off in the Utah zone for Kenny Bernard, who set up Matt O'Dette at the right point. O'Dette's long shot from the blue line beat Utah goaltender Michael Mole to the glove side for his second goal of the season.

Utah pulled even 1:18 into the second period as Jordan Hart's shot from the blue line was deflected past Jake Moreland by Olivier Labelle.

Fresno regained the lead at 12:02. John Morlang fed Mike Ramsay skating down the slot, and he flipped a shot over Mole's glove to give the Falcons a 2-1 edge.

But, the Grizzlies came right back to again tie the game just 40 seconds later. Scott Burt took a shot from the right-wing circle that was deflected by Ryan Kinasewich, going in just under the crossbar, to even the score through two periods of play.

Oren Eizenman put the Falcons ahead 3-2 at 2:37 of the third period. Eizenman took a cross-ice pass from Brady Leisenring and one-timed a shot past Mole for his 24th goal of the season.

Utah tied the game for the third time on the night, and forced overtime, with a power-play goal at 16:27. Martin Frechette's shot from the left point was deflected by Christian Gaudet, and beat Moreland through the five hole, tying the game at three.

After a scoreless overtime, the game went to a shootout. Both teams scored twice in the first five attempts, setting up a sudden-death situation. Ramsay failed to score for the Falcons in round six, while Labelle scored for Utah to give the Grizzlies the win.

The Falcons are back in action on Friday, once again hosting the Grizzlies, at 7:30 p.m. It's Camp Out for Cans Night, presented by Sierra Vista Mall and Wilks Broadcasting of Fresno. All fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the game to donate to the Community Food Bank.
