IN JUST A FEW HOURS...
The Elmira Jackals return to game action after a lengthy winter break when they take on the Trenton Devils at 7:00 p.m. to begin a three-game road trip.
JACKALS BLANK WALLEYE
Elmira entered the break with its first shutout victory of the season, 5-0, over the Toledo Walleye at First Arena on Dec. 18. Mike Brodeur made 30 saves in net for the Jackals in their first shutout win since March of last season. The Jackals managed to score five times despite totaling just 18 shots, the first time this season Elmira did not get out of the teens in shots on goal. With Elmira now having earned a shutout, Ontario and Trenton remain as the only two teams in 2010-2011 that have not blanked an opponent. The Devils did not collect a shutout last season until late March when they silenced the Jackals, 5-0, at the Sun National Bank Center.
SHORT-HANDED SHOWCASE
Four of Elmira's five short-handed tallies this season have come against Trenton, with Kevin DeVergilio, Justin Donati, Andrew Sweetland, and Yannick Tifu all scoring while down a man against the T-Devils. Trenton has permitted seven short-handed goals this season.
