Starters Named for 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic

PRINCETON, N.J. ‚¬" The ECHL on Wednesday announced the starting lineup for the ECHL All-Stars for the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic presented by CCM. The rest of the ECHL All-Star Team will be announced tomorrow.

The 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic presented by CCM will be hosted by the Bakersfield Condors at Rabobank Arena and played on Jan. 26, 2011. This year ‚¬â„¢s format features the host team taking on a team of ECHL All-Stars.

There have been 52 players from the All-Star Game who have gone on to play in the National Hockey League, including 36 since 2002 when the lineups began having players who coaches felt were prospects to move up to a higher level.

G ‚¬" Michael Ouzas, Las Vegas (16 gp, 11-3-1, 1 shutout, 2.24 GAA, .921 save pct.)

D ‚¬" P.J. Atherton, Victoria (29 gp, 6g, 15a, 21 pts)

D ‚¬" Julien Brouillette, Greenville (25 gp, 11g, 12a, 23 pts)

F ‚¬" Brendan Connolly, Greenville (27 gp, 13g, 15a, 28 pts)

F ‚¬" Mark Derlago, Idaho (30 gp, 15g, 16a, 31 pts)

F ‚¬" Mitch Fadden, Florida (32 gp, 15g, 32a, 47 pts)

The starting lineup is determined in voting by ECHL coaches, team captains, media directors, broadcasters and media members.

Michael Ouzas of Las Vegas is third in the ECHL with a 2.24 goals-against average, is tied for third with 11 wins and is fifth with a .921 save percentage. He was named ECHL Goaltender of the Month for November after going 4-0-1 during the month with one shutout, a 1.36 goals-against average and a save percentage of .955.

Victoria ‚¬â„¢s P.J. Atherton leads ECHL defensemen with 15 assists, ranks second with 21 points and tied for third with six goals. Atherton ‚¬â„¢s +9 rating leads the Salmon Kings.

Currently loaned to Lake Erie of the American Hockey League, Greenville ‚¬â„¢s Julien Brouillette leads ECHL defensemen with 11 goals and 23 points and is second with a plus-minus rating of +16.

Joining Brouillete in the starting line-up is Road Warriors ‚¬â„¢ teammate Brendan Connolly who ranks third in the ECHL with a +15 and is tied for second on the squad in scoring with 28 points (15g-13a) in 27 games. He was named ECHL Player of the Month and Plus Performer of the Month in November.

Idaho ‚¬â„¢s Mark Derlago is making his second ECHL All-Star appearance after representing the Bakersfield Condors in 2009. Derlago is tied for second in the league with 15 goals and is tied for fifth with 31 points.

Rounding out the starting lineup is Florida ‚¬â„¢s Mitch Fadden. The 22 year old leads the ECHL with 32 assists, 47 points, 17 power-play assists and 20 power-play points.

The fourth class will be inducted into the ECHL Hall of Fame on Jan. 26, 2011 during a luncheon ceremony presented by BFL Canada at the Marriott Bakersfield Hotel, the official host hotel of the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic.

Tickets for the luncheon are $40 each or a table with seven tickets can be purchased for $250. Fans can purchase tickets by downloading the Luncheon Ticket Order Form or by calling the Condors Office at (661) 324-7825.

The past eight ECHL All-Star Games have generated more than $1 million each for the local economy as guests, players, coaches and fans occupy hundreds of hotel rooms and spend three days in the host city.

The game has been available live on the NHL Network the last eight years as well as being broadcast on multiple regional networks. The audio broadcast has been carried on XM Satellite Radio as well as being available in all ECHL markets.

The Stanley Cup and the Patrick J. Kelly Cup will both be on display throughout the event, marking the 11th time in the last 12 years that the NHL championship trophy and the ECHL championship trophy have been displayed together at the All-Star Game.
