Elmira Jackals News Release

ELMIRA, NY - November 13, 2015 - Tyler Currier scored his fourth goal in six games since joining the Jackals in a trade with Orlando, but Elmira would fall at home tonight to Norfolk, 4-1.

The Admirals got on the board first at 3:19 of the opening period with a point shot from Jordan Hill. Michael Pelech and Radoslav Illo earned the helpers on Hill's second of the year. Later in the first period, the Admirals would add to their lead with a redirection by Tom Mele in the slot off of Charles Roussel's shot from the blueline. Steven Whitney also assisted Mele's second of the season.

Neither team would score in the second period despite Elmira out-shooting Norfolk 13-3 in the middle frame. The Jackals controlled the play and possessed the better scoring chances, but could not beat Norfolk netminder, Nic Riopel.

The Jackals entered the third period with a two-goal deficit, but an early interference call against Nick Petrecki provided Norfolk with an opportunity to extend it's lead and change the tide of the contest. Alexandre Ranger received a cross-ice feed and ripped a shot off the far post and past C.J. Motte. Gabriel Verpaelst and Samuel Noreau assisted Ranger's third goal of the season. The Admirals pushed their lead to 4-0 at 12:32 of the third period as Steven Whitney capitalized on a two-on-one rush. Tom Mele and Charles Roussel assisted Whitney's second of the season. Less than a minute later, the Jackals answered and cut the deficit down to three. Nick Petrecki found Colin Jacobs with a feed and Jacobs fired a low shot off the pad of Ty Rimmer, which popped out to Tyler Currier in front for his fourth goal in six games as a Jackal. Despite a furious push and out-shooting Norfolk 37-17, the Jackals did not cut any further into the deficit and fell 4-1.

C.J. Motte stopped 13 of 17 shots faced, but was handed the loss. Nic Riopel stopped all 27 shots faced before leaving the game due to an injury suffered when Justin Bernhardt collided with him. Riopel still earned the win as Ty Rimmer came in and stopped nine of 10 shots faced in relief duty.
