CINCINNATI, Ohio (November 13, 2015) - Joe Pendenza scored two goals and added an assist and Brad Thiessen made 23 saves as the the host Cincinnati Cyclones (7-2-1) defeated the Quad City Mallards (5-5-3) 3-1 Friday night.

The Cyclones struck for what proved to be a decisive pair of power play goals just one minute, 19 seconds apart in the first period. Jack Downing broke a scoreless deadlock from the left wing circle at 13:43 of the first; at 15:02 Pendenza buried Zach Budish's centering pass to double the Cincinnati advantage.

After forcing Thiessen to make a series of fine second period saves, the Mallards finally cut the gap to 2-1 when Matt Neal scored from close range at 2:44 of the third period. However, the Mallards could not produce an equalizer before Pendenza's empty net goal clinched the Cyclone win with just 18 seconds remaining.

The Mallards next play at home Sunday at 4:05 p.m. against the Fort Wayne Komets. Just in time for the holidays, the Mallards will team with R.I.A. Federal Credit Union for a teddy bear toss Sunday. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped stuffed animal and throw it on to the ice after the Mallards' first goal. Teddy bears will be donated to area children in need. Courtesy of B100, fans can join the Mallards on the ice and skate with the team after each Sunday home game this season.
