Bembridge Fuels Indy Win over Alaska
November 13, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - Garret Bembridge scored two goals including the game-winner with just 10 seconds to go in the second period, and the Indy Fuel skated off with a 3-2 victory Friday night over the Aces at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Bembridge gave the Fuel (6-3-1) early momentum with his fifth goal of the season at 3:01 of the first period. After a mostly even period, Alaska (4-8-1) seized momentum with a two goal flurry. Ben Lake chipped in his fourth goal of the season at 18:15, then Garet Hunt stuffed a puck past Indy goaltender Shane Owen at 19:24 to give Alaska a 2-1 lead at the end of the first 20 minutes.
The second period script was much like the first, but the two teams swapped roles. A largely even period was capped off by two Indy goals.
Daniel Ciampini scored his second goal of the season with a sharp wrister at 19:22, then 28 seconds later Bembridge scored and it was 3-2 Fuel after two.
Alaska outshot the Fuel 12-4 in the third period, but couldn't muscle the puck past Owen. A late penalty on the Aces late in the period helped thwart a comeback.
The Aces outshot the Fuel 37-26. Owen finished with 35 saves for the win. Alaska goaltender Steven Summerhays made 23 saves.
The Aces and the Fuel play again Saturday night at 3:35pm Alaska time.
The Aces return home for a three-game series with Evansville starting Friday, November 27. Get your tickets by stopping by the Aces ticket office Monday through Friday from 9-5 at 15th and Gambell, or go online at www.alaskaaces.com.
