Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

NEED TO KNOW: The Albuquerque Isotopes (51-65) scored four runs in the ninth inning, including a pair with two outs, to beat the El Paso Chihuahuas (59-54) 5-4 Sunday night at Isotopes Park. Catcher Tommy Murphy ignited the Isotopes offense with a two-run home run with one out in the ninth inning, and infielder Trevor Story went 4-for-5 with a game-tying single. Albuquerque takes the series against El Paso three games to two with all three Topes victories being walk-offs.

THE TURNING POINT: A Matt McBride groundout plated a run in the first inning to give the Isotopes an early lead, but El Paso quickly stole momentum with a three-run second inning. Albuquerque's offense sputtered, while the Chihuahuas tacked on a run in the eighth to make it 4-1. After a groundout to leadoff the ninth inning, the Isotopes finally got rolling. Roger Bernadina singled ahead of Tommy Murphy's two-run homer to cut it to 4-3. Tim Wheeler then drew a walk, but a strikeout cornered the Topes to their last out. Rafael Ynoa ripped a line drive off the third baseman's glove to put runners on the corners. Trevor Story quickly fell behind 0-2 but worked a full count before singling to left to tie the game. Cristhian Adames then dribbled an infield single down the third base line, and a throwing error by El Paso's pitcher allowed Ynoa to score the winning run.

HERE'S THE STORY: Infielder Trevor Story collected four hits Sunday night, including the game-tying single in the bottom of the ninth. He finished the evening 4-for-5 and now has hits in five straight games. During that stretch he is 9-for-24 with a run scored, a double and an RBI.

MURPHY'S LAW: Catcher Tommy Murphy belted a two-run home run with one out in the ninth inning. It is his third home run in as many games. He finished Sunday's game 2-for-4 with a homer, a double a run scored and two RBI. It is his third straight multi-hit effort and seventh in 13 games with the Isotopes. Over his last three games, Murphy is 7-for-13 with five runs scored, two doubles, three homers and five RBI.

ON DECK: After an off-day on Monday, the Isotopes will welcome the Fresno Grizzlies to town for a four- game series beginning Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Right-handed pitcher David Hale (0-2, 6.41 ERA) is scheduled to make a Major League rehab start with Albuquerque, while Fresno is slated to go with right-hander Dan Straily (8-6, 3.65 ERA) on the hill.

IN THE HOLE: Following their nine-game, 10-day homestand, the Isotopes will hit the road for an eight-game road trip to Memphis and Nashville beginning August 15.
