From the Notes

Day and Night: Aces starter Gabriel Arias has pitched extremely well in day games (4-0, 3.34 ERA in 6 starts) compared to night games (1-3, 8.23 ERA in 7 games, 6 starts). Opponents are batting .264 vs. Arias in day affairs compared to .364 at night.

Hessler Gets the Call, Debuts: Aces left-handed reliever Keith Hessler had his contract purchased by the Diamondbacks Friday night following Arizona's 2-0 shutout of Cincinnati. The southpaw was 0-1 with a 5.27 ERA (8 ER in 13 2/3 IP) for Reno, but his overall numbers between Advanced-A Visalia, Double-A Mobile and Reno were tremendous. Collectively, the 26-year-old went 4-2 with a 1.68 ERA (10 ER in 53 2/3 IP) across the three levels, racking up 62 strikeouts against 11 walks along the way. Opponents batted just .197 against Hessler. He worked a perfect 1-2-3 inning in Arizona's 4-1 loss to the Reds last night, striking out both Todd Frazier and Jay Bruce.
