Round Rock Express News Release

Metairie, LA - The Round Rock Express (64-49) did not show any signs of drowsiness after the 16-inning contest one night ago by taking game four from the New Orleans Zephyrs (51-64) at Zephyr Field Saturday night, 6-2.

Round Rock jumped out of the gates early on a lead-off double from CF Leonys Martin who was then brought home on a ground out courtesy of SS Hanser Alberto for a quick 1-0 Express advantage. New Orleans starter Ivan Pineyro went on to give up back-to-back singles, but salvaged the inning with consecutive strikeouts.

RF Jared Hoying and C J.T. Wise each collected a single to begin the second inning to put runners on first and second for 2B Beamer Weems. Weems connected on a 1-1 pitch for a double that raced Hoying home to send the lead to 2-0. A sacrifice fly from Martin brought Wise across home plate and another ground out from Alberto scored Weems to make it 4-0. 1B Brett Nicholas ended the surge with a fly out.

New Orleans finally broke the scoring seal in the bottom of the third on a two-out RBI ground-rule double from DH Reid Brignac that spoiled Express starter Ross Wolf's shutout bid. Wolf shook off the blemish by crafting a ground out to end the third.

Nicholas padded the lead and ended Pineyro's night all in one swing as the first baseman left the building with a two-run homer that extended the lead to 6-1. Pineyro (0-1, 14.73) finished with 3.2 innings pitched, seven hits, six runs (six earned), three walks and four Ks in his Triple-A debut. Zephyrs southpaw Pat Urckfitz struck out 3B Ed Lucas to close the top of the fourth.

Wolf surrendered a single to start the bottom of the fourth, but earned successive fly outs to put two outs in his pocket. Zephyrs SS Austin Nola managed his way aboard by reaching on an error, situating Zephyrs on second and third with two outs. Wolf (11-6, 5.09) then walked RF Isaac Galloway to load the bases and threw another walk to bring in the second New Orleans run of the game. The Round Rock starter recuperated thanks to a mound visit and got 2B Donovan Solano to fly out to escape the fourth.

Both team's bats went quiet for the remainder of game four as RHP Francisco Mendoza and LHP Jimmy Reyes shutdown the Zephyrs to give Round Rock win number 64 and extend its first place lead over division rival Memphis to 5.0 games.

Round Rock and New Orleans complete the series with game five tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 p.m. as Express RHP Phil Klein (1-0, 0.91) toes the rubber against a Zephyrs LHP Justin Niccolino (7-7, 3.52).
