Isotopes break single game attendance record

July 3, 2006 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

With 15,020 fans on hand to see the Albuquerque Isotopes take on the Memphis Redbirds in a July 3rd match-up, the ‘Topes have set a single game attendance record, the most fans ever to see a baseball game in the city of Albuquerque.

Spending the Independence Day holiday at Isotopes Park has become a yearly tradition for a lot of Albuquerque denizens, as the record eclipses the previous mark set last July 4th, when 14,744 came to see the ‘Topes take on the Oklahoma RedHawks. Prior to that, the highest single-game attendance was 13,501, achieved on July 3rd, 2004, when Albuquerque battled Colorado Springs.

In addition to a terrific game, fans were treated to a silent jersey auction, where the team auctioned game-worn red, white, and blue jerseys, raising $5,960 for the United Way of Central Albuquerque, and a jaw-dropping post-game fireworks show courtesy First Community Bank. Taking into account last night's excellent crowd of 12,204, the Isotopes drew a total of 27,224 fans combined between July 2nd and July 3rd.

Through 44 home dates so far this season, the ‘Topes have drawn a total of 339,384 fans for an average of 7,713 per contest.

After a six-game road trip that is followed immediately by the Triple-A All-Star Break, the Isotopes will return home on July 13 for the beginning of what is sure to another popular eight-game homestand. Promotions on tap include the official kick-off to the 2007 Triple-A All-Star Game at Isotopes Park, a Myron Noodleman appearance, and manager Dean Treanor bobblehead giveaway.
