Tucson Sidewinders News Release

Las Vegas, NV - James Loney went 2-3 with a double and a two run homer and Jon Weber drove home a pair of runs to lead the Las Vegas 51's to a 6-4 win over the Sidewinders on Sunday afternoon.

Dustin Nippert was charged with the loss, allowing five runs on eight hits over six innings. Nippert (8-4) has lost his last three decisions.

Vegas scored first with a pair of runs in the second. With one out, Delwyn Young doubled and scored on Weber's single to right. Wilson Valdez also had an RBI single in the inning to push the 51's lead to 2-0.

The Sidewinders answered with a solo home run by Stephen Drew in the top of the third to cut the lead in half. The homer was the 11th for Drew and his second on the road trip.

Tucson played longball again in the fourth. Brian Barden led off with his second homer in as many games to tie the score at 2.

Loney's two run homer in the fifth put Las Vegas in front 5-2.

D. J. Houlton (4-7) earned the win with six innings of two run baseball. He allowed five hits and thwarted potential Sidewinders rallies in the fifth and sixth by working around leadoff doubles in both frames.

The Sidewinders scored twice in the ninth on a double by Alberto Callaspo with one out but Drew grounded out and Carlos Quentin struck out to end the game.

The Sidewinders and 51's wrap up their four game series on Monday night at Cashman Field. Left-hander Mike Bacsik (7-0 2.41) starts for the Sidewinders against right-hander Harold Eckert (5-3 6.19) for Las Vegas. First pitch is at 7:05. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:50.
