Oklahoma City Comets News Release

Andrew Good tossed seven shutout innings, his second consecutive scoreless start against Oklahoma, as New Orleans beat the RedHawks 6-1 on Sunday to take a 3-0 series lead.

The RedHawks have dropped the first games of two straight series and have lost eight of their last nine with the series finale in New Orleans Monday at 7 p.m. CDT.

Good, now 4-6, has tossed 13 scoreless innings against Oklahoma in two starts. His catcher Wiki Gonzalez belted a two-run homer in the second off Edinson Volquez (4-6), then added an RBI single in the two-run third as the Z's built a 4-0 lead through three innings.

Volquez lasted 4 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on six hits, with four walks and six strikeouts.

Anthony Medrano's RBI single in the sixth off Erasmo Ramirez gave New Orleans a 5-0 lead. The RedHawks' lone run came after Jamie Burke doubled and Anthony Webster singled to open the eighth off Travis Hughes. Nick Trzesniak then hit into a double play to bring in the run.

The Zephyrs added a run against Jose Diaz, who saw his 13 1/3-inning scoreless streak end with three walks and a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

The RedHawks drop to 39-43 and will start Nick Masset against lefty Billy Traber on Monday at Zephyr Field before returning home for a July 4 game against Omaha at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.
