Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that forward Rob Hennigar has been assigned to the team from the New York Islanders. In addition, forward James Sixsmith has been loaned to the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Utah has also announced the signing of forward James Brannigan.
The Grizzlies are proud to be the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and their AHL affiliate in Bridgeport.
Hennigar, who joins Utah from Bridgeport, signed a two-year contract with the Islanders April 9, 2008 after completing his college career at the University of New Brunswick where he led the CIS - Canada's equivalent to the NCAA in scoring last year tallying 15 goals and 43 assists for 58 points.
Brannigan, who played last year in the ECHL with both Columbia and Augusta, joins the Grizzlies from Brooklyn of the EPHL where he led the team in scoring with 22 goals and 13 assists in 17 games. Brannigan was a teammate of current Utah forward Scott Thauwald at Colorado College.
Sixsmith gets an AHL call for the first time this year after earning time last year with the Milwaukee Admirals and the Sound Tigers in 2006-2007. He leaves Utah with 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 28 games.
The Grizzlies return to action Friday and Saturday in Las Vegas. Face-off at the Orleans Arena is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. both nights.
Utah returns home to open a four-game in five-night home stand Tuesday, January 6 when they will host the Reading Royals at 7:05 p.m.
