
Spencer and May Loaned to AHL

LAS VEGAS, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers® announced today that defenseman Jeff May has been loaned to the Providence ruins of the American Hockey League (AHL). The team also announced that left wing Tim Spencer has been loaned to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL. The Wranglers will host Utah on Friday, January 2nd at 7:30 PM at the Orleans Arena.
May heads back to the AHL where he started the 2008-09 season. The rookie defenseman leaves the Wranglers after playing in 23 games with four goals and six assists. May placed second among all defensemen on the team with ten points. He was drafted in the fifth round (#151 overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings.
May joined Las Vegas after opening the season in the American Hockey League with the Norfolk Admirals. The defenseman was held scoreless without a penalty in three AHL games. The rookie defender posted 40 assists and 44 points in 54 Western Hockey League games last season, splitting time between Prince Albert and Lethbridge. In 2007-08, May's 44 points finished 12th in overall scoring among defensemen in the WHL. The 21-year old blueliner led Prince Albert in 2006-07 with 34 assists and finished fourth overall in team scoring with44 points. The Richmond, BC native led all Prince Albert defensemen with ten goals and 44 points. May also placed third on the team with 96 penalty minutes in 2006-07.
Tim Spencer played in 22 games for the Wranglers this season before receiving his first call up to the AHL. Spencer led the team with 72 penalty minutes and eight major penalties. The 6-foot-4, 230 pound forward scored three goals and added an assist for four points this season.
Spencer is in his second season of professional hockey after spending the 2007-08 season in Alaska. The winger scored three goals and had 12 assists for 15 points in 63 games for Alaska. Spencer finished third on the Aces with 130 penalty minutes and second with 12 major penalties. The Carnduff, SK native was a +7 in his first pro season. Prior to joining the Aces, Spencer played in the QMJHL with St. John's and Moncton. In 136 games, the 22-year old scored 13 times and accumulated 37 points. The physical forward also racked up 290 penalty minutes. Spencer is attended training camp in 2008 with the AHL's Iowa Chops.
Las Vegas will conclude an eight-game home stand with Utah on January 2nd and 3rd at 7:30 PM.
