
Jackals at Devils Tonight

Elmira, NY- After gathering three of four points this past weekend against the Johnstown Chiefs, the Elmira Jackals pack their bags and travel to Trenton for their sixth match up of the season tonight. Face off with the Devils is set for 7:05 p.m. at Sovereign Bank Arena.
Season Series: The Jackals have owned the Devils in the season long series with a 4-1 record. Tonight's tilt marks the third played in Trenton this season, with seven more games to play total. *All five games thus far have been one goal games.
Where They Stand: The Jackals (15-12-1-3=34pts) enter the game in fourth place in the North Division, Sixth in the American Conference and 10th overall in the ECHL. The Devils (10-14-1-2=23pts) occupy sixth in the North, 11th in the American Conference and 20th in the ECHL.
Special Teams: Despite the low league ranking, the Devils have the fourth best power play in the ECHL at 20.7%. The Elmira power play ranks 20th out of 21 at 12.4%. The Jackals penalty kill picks up some of the slack at 83.6% (11th in ECHL), while the Devils are solid with an 86.2% pk.
Head to head: The Jackals are lead by Steve Yetman, Benoit Doucet and Josh Aspenlind who have all netted four points against the Devils. Trenton forward Eric Castonguay has netted six points when facing Elmira, Trevor Kell has scored three goals and added one assist in the five prior match ups.
Jackals Snipers: Overall the Jackals scoring department is lead by Josh Aspenlinds 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points. Steve Yetman (15g 11a=26pts), Pierre-Luc Flaubert (9g 13a=22pts) and Benoit Doucette (5g 17a=22 pts) round out the top four.
Devils Snipers: The Devils top point producer is Eric Castonguay (9g 14a=23pts). Ryan Gunderson (3g 17a=20pts), Tyler Burton (10g 9a=19pts) and Jim Henkel (7g 12a=19pts) round out the Trenton top four.
In Goal: Jackals Goaltender David Shantz has appeared in six games since his arrival to Elmira. The net minder has posted a 3-1-1 record with one shutout, a 2.58 goals against average and a .916 save percentage. Devils goalkeepers Charlie Effinger and Jason Smith have combined for a 3.675 goals against average and a .874 save percentage.
