Moosic, Pennsylvania - Trailing by five going into the ninth inning, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (65-59, 29-22) made a late charge but came up just shy in a 6-4 loss to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (63-61, 29-21) on Sunday afternoon at PNC Field.

Cal Stevenson got the scoring going in the game in the third inning as he smoked a solo homer, his seventh of the year for the IronPigs, to make it 1-0.

That run held up until the sixth, when Austin Wells went deep for a two-run shot for Scranton, vaulting the RailRiders ahead 2-1.

Four more runs extended the lead for the RailRiders in the seventh. Jesus Bastidas brought in a run with an infield single before Estevan Florial broke his bat for an RBI knock. Jasson Dominguez provided the big blow with a two-run triple.

The IronPigs ninth inning rally began with walks to Drew Ellis and Simon Muzziotti to start the frame. Aramis Garcia then launched a three-run homer, his 12th of the season, to make it 6-4. After a groundout, Cal Stevenson singled and Scott Kingery walked to bring the go-ahead run to the plate, but the IronPigs rally ran out of steam as they fell 6-4, with Greg Weissert (S, 10) picking up the save for the RailRiders by striking out the final two hitters.

Nick Ramirez (1-0) threw a perfect 1.1 frames out of the bullpen for the win for Scranton, striking out one.

Jeremy Walker (5-2) suffered the loss for the IronPigs, allowing two runs on a hit and a walk, striking out two over one inning.

Following an off-day on Monday, the IronPigs return to Coca-Cola Park on Tuesday, August 29, to play host to the Syracuse Mets. First pitch is slated for 6:45 p.m.
