St. Paul Saints News Release

PAPILLION, NE - All arms were on deck for the St. Paul Saints on Sunday afternoon at Werner Park, one of the few bullpen games for the club this season. For the most part the six relievers pitched well allowing just five hits, but three of those hits left the ballpark and that was too much for the Saints to overcome in a 5-3 loss to the Omaha Storm Chasers. The loss drops the Saints to 29-22 in the second half.

Michael Boyle was asked to do the bulk of the work as the starter. Bubba Thompson took the first pitch he saw from Boyle in the bottom of the first and hit it over the center field wall, his second with the Storm Chasers, making it 1-0. Edward Olivares was hit by a pitch and, with two outs, Devin Mann walked. Nate Eaton followed with a three-run homer to left, his 12th of the season, giving the Storm Chasers a 4-0 lead. Boyle went 3.0 innings allowing four runs on two hits while walking two.

DaShawn Keirsey Jr. extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a two-out solo homer to right in the second, his second of the season, cutting the Saints deficit to 4-1.

Chris Williams led off the third for the Saints with a walk. That was followed by an Andrew Stevenson single and an RBI single from Willie Castro got the Saints to within 4-2. Castro finished his second Major League rehab game going 1-3 with an RBI and a walk. Austin Martin singled loading the bases with nobody out. The Saints, however, managed just one run. After a strikeout to Trevor Larnach, Kyle Garlick's RBI fielder's choice scored Stevenson getting the Saints to within 4-3.

That was as close as the Saints would get as Olivares hit the third home run of the game for the Storm Chasers, a solo shot to right in the fifth, his third of the season, finishing off the final margin of 5-3.

The Saints have Monday off and are back in action on Tuesday night at CHS Field at 7:07 p.m. in game one of a six-game series against the Columbus Clippers (Cleveland Guardians). The Saints send RHP Blayne Enlow (2-5, 8.63) to the mound against Guardians RHP Peyton Battenfield (0-5, 5.65). The game can be seen on the Saints Broadcast Network, cable access channels in and around the Twin Cities, the Bally Live app (free), and MiLB.TV, and heard on KFAN Plus, 96.7 FM.
