Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - Jared Oliva, Hunter Owen and Bligh Madris each homered as the Indianapolis Indians ended their five game winning streak after losing to the St. Paul Saints in 11 innings on Wednesday night, 11-9.

Oliva and Owen opened up the game with a pair of two-run home runs in the first and second innings, respectively, to put the Indians (42-43) on top 4-1. Oliva's long ball to begin the scoring was his first in Triple-A and his first across levels since July 14, 2019 with Double-A Altoona.

The Saints (45-40) battled back with two runs in the fourth inning, two in the fifth and one in the sixth to take a 6-4 lead. Jimmy Kerrigan led the charge with a pair of home runs good for three RBI in that three-inning span.

Indy tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with a two-run home run from Madris. Two outs later Tucupita Marcano doubled to score Owen, who reached via walk, to retake the lead 7-6.

The lead didn't hold long as the Saints scored one run in the top of the seventh frame to tie the game.

After two scoreless innings, the game entered into extra innings and the Saints jumped out to a 9-7 lead. Indy matched that with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Oliva hit an RBI single to left field to score Sharpe and Michael Chavis scored on a double from Madris.

Jose Miranda hit a two-run home run in the top of the eleventh to give St. Paul the 11-9 lead.

Tanner Anderson (L, 1-1) took the loss giving up four runs (three unearned) on two hits. Ian Hamilton (W, 3-1) earned the win on the mound for St. Paul.

The Indians and Saints continue the six-game series tomorrow night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM ET. RHP James Marvel (4-3, 5.47) is set to take the mound for Indy and face RHP Chandler Shepherd (5-5, 5.88).
