August 11, 2021 - International League (IL)
Buffalo Bisons News Release

After winning game one on Tuesday night in a dominant fashion, the Bisons came into Wednesday night at Sahlen Field looking to keep their momentum rolling. Behind an explosive second inning and a great outing on the mound from starter Nick Allgeyer, Buffalo held Rochester in check, beating their rival, 5-0.

All five Bisons runs came in a five-batter stretch in the second inning. Christian Colon hit a one-out double to get it started for the Herd and Otto Lopez followed with a double of his own, allowing Colon to score. Logan Warmoth then singled, scoring Lopez to expand the Buffalo lead to two runs.

The bottom of the second wasn't over just yet . With Warmoth still on base and Kellin Deglan joining him after being hit by a pitch, Nash Knight then homered to right field, giving the Bisons an early 5-0 lead over the Red Wings.

The Herd failed to score again throughout the remainder of the game, but were able to put the ball in play, striking out just three times in the game.

Behind the early offensive explosion, the Bisons played solid defensive baseball, paving their way to victory. The club allowed zero runs on four hits, committing zero errors and only walking one batter throughout all nine innings.

Allgeyer started on the mound for the Bisons and set the tone for the rest of the pitching staff. The southpaw pitched five innings, allowing just two hits and no runs. Using his ability to change speeds, Allgeyer struck out four batters, while getting five more to ground out.

The southpaw then handed the game over to the bullpen, who helped carry the club to victory. Using three different pitchers, the Bisons' bullpen blanked the Red Wings, giving up just two hits.

The Bisons put a beating on the Red Wings on Tuesday night, winning 11-0. The club allowed just two hits in their dominant victory. The same defense was displayed on Wednesday night as well. The Herd have outscored their rival 16-0 throughout the first two games of the series and have not allowed a run in 26.0 consecutive innings.

The Bisons (51-32) and Red Wings (33-48) will play game three of the series on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
