Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – It took three periods, a five minute overtime and six rounds of shootout hockey to finally solve San Diego goaltender Trevor Koenig, as the Ice Dogs came out on top 1-0. Mike Ouellet was the lone goal scorer, giving the Ice Dogs their second win as many nights.

Ice Dogs goaltender, Colin Zulianello, was perfect stopping all 27 Gulls shots, as well as all six in the shootout. Ouellet put a nifty move on Koenig, scoring just inside the post for his third goal of the year. Zulianello earned his first shutout of the season, and it was the second for the Ice Dogs this year.

The Ice Dogs closed out their seven game homestand with their first consecutive wins of the season. After 12 total games played, the Ice Dogs two shutouts are more than they had all season last year. Long Beach will put their winning streak on the line this Wednesday when they travel to Bakersfield to take on the Condors. Bakersfield happens to be the other team the Ice Dogs shutout, November 1st in their home opener.
