Chiefs Fall In Shootout to Cincinnati; Move Into Sole Possesion of First Place

Cincinnati, OH- The Johnstown Chiefs extended their unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1) as they fell to the Cincinnati Cyclones 2-1 in a shootout, Saturday night at the U.S. Bank Arena. With the shootout loss the Chiefs moved into sole possession of first place in the Northern division as Atlantic City was idle.

The Chiefs broke the 0-0 score in the third period when Dmitri Tarabrin scored a power play goal at 6:32. Cincinnati would answer just over six minutes later when Brett Cloutier scored his first goal of the season.

The teams would battle through overtime and Cincinnati would pick up the extra point in the standings when Jason Norrie scored in the sixth round of the shootout.

Chiefs goaltender Arturs Irbe made 35 saves while Cyclones goaltender Randy Petruk made 24 saves. The Chiefs are now 9-3-1 on the season while Cincinnati is 6-7-0.

The Chiefs are back in action Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. when they visit the Wheeling Nailers. The Chiefs next home game is Friday night when they host the Wheeling Nailers at 7:05 p.m.
