Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Ice Dogs came out Friday night with something to prove, as they got back on the winning track by defeating division rival Fresno. Long Beach's 4th victory of the season pulled the Dogs into a tie for 5th in the Pacific Division.

John McNabb led the Ice Dogs with 2 goals and an assist. Kevin McDonald's goal midway through the 2nd period proved to be the game winner and Colin Zulianello stopped 21 shots for his first win since October 17. Nolan Schaefer was in net for Fresno, who gave up 2 power play goals and a shorthander in the loss.

Lee Sorochan got his first goal of the season for the Ice Dogs at the end of the 1st period when his clearing pass took a funny bounce off of Shaefer's stick and into the net. The Ice Dogs fed off the lucky bounce, scoring three more times before Fresno got on the board on a goal by Brad Mahalko.

With the win, the Ice Dogs are back in the division hunt, just 3 points behind 4th place Fresno. The teams will play 8 more times the season, the next meeting coming next Friday at Fresno. The Ice Dogs close out their 7 game homestand tomorrow night when they take on the San Diego Gulls in another battle of division foes.
