
Gladiators Steamroll past Express, 4-2

Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gladiators used two second period goals to steamroll past the Roanoke Express 4-2 and improve to 10-2-1 on the season.
Andrew McPherson gave the Express a 1-0 lead, as he was able to slip a puck past Gladiators goaltender Adam Munro at 3:10 of the first period. Duncan Delmao and Tom Kotsopoulos added the assists on the tally.
Kris Goodjohn tied the game up at 1-1 three seconds after a Gladiators power play expired. Mike Vigilante picked up an assist as he fed Goodjohn along the goal line. Troy Milam also picked up an assist on the goal at the 6:30 mark of the first period.
In the second, Blue Bennefield gave the Gladiators their first lead of the game as his shot from the bottom of the right face off circle beat Roanoke netminder David Belitski at 4:38 of the period. Kris Goodjohn had an assist on the goal.
Troy Milam extended the Gladiators lead to two goals as he ripped a slap shot from the point that trickled through the legs of Belitski. Mike Vigilante added an assist on the power play goal by sliding the puck to Milam at the point. Kris Goodjohn also picked up a helper on the goal at the 7:20 mark of the second period.
Roanoke cut the lead back to one goal when Tim O'Connell's slap shot from the left point beat Munro. Dan Carlson added an assist on the power play goal at the 11:22 mark of the final period.
With two and a half minutes left in the contest, Roanoke pulled goaltender David Belitski in favor of an extra attacker. Kevin Doell made the Express pay as he picked up his fifth goal of season when he found the empty net at the 18:37 mark of the final period.
Adam Munro made 29 saves in the win and improves to 4-1-1 on the season. The Gladiators went 1-for-7 on the power play in the win.
The Gladiators are back in action on Wednesday when they visit Charlotte to take on the Checkers at the Cricket Arena at 7:05 p.m. Next Thursday is College night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Show a valid college ID at the Gwinnett Center Box office and get $5 mezzanine level tickets when the Gladiators battle the South Carolina Stingrays.
