Ice Dogs Announce 2005-06 Schedule

Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release


LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today the release of their schedule for the 2005-06 regular season. They will begin the season on October 21st in Idaho with a two game series versus the Steelheads before returning home for their home opener against the Fresno Falcons on Friday, October 28th.

The Ice Dogs will play 29 of their 36 home games on weekend dates, including 13 Saturday nights. Four teams will be making their first trip to the Long Beach Arena, including the Los Angeles Kings' affiliate, Reading Royals, on New Years Eve. The three new expansion teams, Stockton Thunder, Phoenix Roadrunners and Utah Grizzlies, will also be making appearances.

The Ice Dogs will play the Kelly Cup Champion Trenton Titans to begin a four game road trip on December 7th that will also feature first time visits to Dayton and two versus Reading.

The Ice Dogs longest road trip of the season spans six games, with three in Victoria and three in Alaska from February 8-19. The Ice Dogs will play a midnight game in Las Vegas on December 19th. The Ice Dogs will also play a New Years Eve game versus the Reading Royals that will have an early start time. Home start times will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays, 7:30 p.m. on Fridays, and 5 p.m. on Sundays.

The ECHL will have 27 teams in 16 states and British Columbia playing 972 games in 2005-06. The division and conference alignments and the format for the 2006 Kelly Cup Playoffs will be announced following the annual Board of Governors meeting on June 21-22.
