Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - While lineup changes are normally made on the ice, the condors have made a couple of off-ice changes. Mikie Hayhurst has been named as the new director of community relations and development for Bakersfield Sports Entertainment.

Hayhurst, 25, a native of Sanger, California, returns home to California to handle player appearances and team events in addition to serving non-profit agencies and charitable donations. She joins the condors from the Utah Grizzlies, a former American Hockey League team, where she worked for the last two seasons. Utah became an official team of the ECHL last week. Hayhurst also spent one season with the Laredo Bucks in the Central Hockey League. Hayhurst attended BYU-Idaho where she studied communications.

Hayhurst takes over the community aspect of the organization from John Ayre, who left the organization in May to relocate to the Pacific Northwest with his family. John had been with the organization since starting as a press box intern in the 2001-02 season and was with the team for four seasons.

Also joining the front office is 23-year-old Angelese Reed as a Public Relations Assistant. Reed will be responsible for assisting community relations and media related endeavors. Reed, a California native received a bachelor's in Journalism from California State University, Northridge.

Heather Baumruk, 21, starts with the team this week as a Marketing Assistant. Baumruk spent the last year in marketing with the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Athletics Department, and will be graduating in December with a degree in Business Marketing. The Bakersfield native graduated from East High and will return to Cal Poly in the fall.
