Everblades Release 2005-06 Schedule

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades, in conjunction with the ECHL have announced their 2005-06 schedule. As in the past, the Everblades will play a 72-game schedule with 36 home and road dates. The '05-'06 campaign begins on October 21, 2005 and concludes on April 8, 2006.

The Everblades begin defense of their second consecutive conference championship with a pair of games against the Texas Wildcatters on Friday & Saturday, October 21 & 22 and will conclude the '05-'06 season on the road at Pensacola and Mississippi on April 7 & 8 respectively. Florida's first road trip of the year is a four-game swing from Oct. 28 - Nov. 1 visiting Gwinnett, Pensacola and Mississippi.

The Everblades play half of their schedule against four teams. The most games will be against rivals Mississippi and Pensacola facing off 10 times against each, and the 'Blades will see Texas and Gwinnett a total of eight times each. In addition, 15 of the Everblades games will come against the three teams they faced in the 2005 Kelly Cup Playoffs (South Carolina, Greenville & Charlotte).

The Everblades enjoy two six-game home stands as their longest stints at Germain Arena during the year. The first is December 21 - January 7, when the Everblades host Pensacola, Gwinnett and Mississippi for a pair of games each. The second stretches from March 10 - 21 when the Everblades host Columbia and Mississippi for three games each.

Florida endures a pair of 8-day trips, as the team's longest road trips. The first trek falls between November 22 - 29 with games at Greenville, Columbia, Charlotte and South Carolina. The second is the team's annual west coast trip, which features games at Fresno, Stockton and Bakersfield from January 10 - 17.

The Everblades games at Fresno on January 10 & 17 will be the first ever meetings between the teams. Likewise, when the Everblades travel to Stockton, CA for a pair of games on January 13 & 14, those will be the first ever meetings between the teams. The Stockton Thunder franchise shifted to the west coast in '05-'06 after spending the previous four years in Atlantic City, NJ.

Highlighting the home schedule is a rematch of the 2004 Kelly Cup Finals between the Everblades and Idaho. The Steelheads make their first trip to Germain Arena since the 2004 Kelly Cup Finals on February 1,3 & 4.

The overall breakdown of opponents & games against for the Everblades is as follows:

The Everblades will play 14 of their home games on Friday nights, 13 on Saturday nights, 4 on Tuesday & Wednesday nights and one Thursday night game. All Everblades home games begin at 7:30 p.m.

The ECHL welcomes three new members in 2005-06, the Phoenix Roadrunners, the Stockton (CA) Thunder and the Utah Grizzlies.

The league has 27 teams in 16 states and one in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada playing 972 games in 2005-06.

The division and conference alignments and the format for the 2006 Kelly Cup Playoffs will be announced following the Annual Board of Governors Meeting on June 21-22.
