Hogberg Blanks Syracuse in Senators Win

February 13, 2019 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release

Marcus Hogberg recorded his first shutout of the season as the Belleville Senators blanked the Syracuse Crunch 3-0 Wednesday at CAA Arena.

Hogberg made 29 saves while Nick Paul, Cody Goloubef and Adam Tambellini scored. Syracuse's Eddie Pasquale turned aside 26 shots.

Paul had the lone goal of the first as he took Drake Batherson's chip pass down the right wing and saw his initial shot denied by Pasquale but with the Crunch unable to clear, Paul scooped in to slide one low at 11:39 for his sixth year.

The Crunch nearly got the goal right back but were Gabriel Dumont was stuffed in-close by a fantastic save by Hogberg as he kept the Senators ahead by a goal after 20.

The Sens had a two-goal lead at 4:40 of the middle period as Goloubef, who had literally just hit the ice from the Sens bench, took a Daniel Ciampini pass and fired it goal-wards where it got through traffic for his fifth of the year and second with Belleville.

Tambellini sealed the deal with an empty-net goal from his own end with 2:03 to play.

Belleville is back in action Friday when they host Cleveland in the first game of a back-to-back. Tickets are available.
