Hitmen Head Home with a Win over Brandon

Brandon, MB - The Calgary Hitmen closed their four-game prairie road trip with a 5-2 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Sunday afternoon at Westoba Place.

19-year-old forward Zac Funk had memorable outing scoring two goals while adding three assists for a career high five points to lead the Calgary attack. Riley Fiddler-Schultz, Jacob Wright and Sean Tschigerl, into an empty net, completed the scoring.

Playing their fourth game in five days the Hitmen built period leads of 2-1 and 3-2 while outshooting the Wheat Kings 17-4 in the final frame to close it out. Goaltender Ethan Buenaventura made 25 saves to pick up the victory in his home province of Manitoba while Carson Bjarnason turned aside 35 shots in the Brandon net.

The Hitmen finish their road trip with a record of 2-2 and improve to 15-9-3-1 on the season.

Calgary will now enjoy a full five-day break before heading to Lethbridge next weekend on Saturday, Dec. 17. It's then back home to Scotiabank Saddledome to host the Edmonton Oil Kings in their final game before the Christmas break on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 2:00 p.m.
