What A Night!

Teddy Bear Toss was incredible from start to finish last night, with Marcus Nguyen's electrifying goal to send the fluff flying, a thrilling shootout win for the Winterhawks and a whopping total of 14,787 stuffed animals on the VMC ice! Oh yeah - and all of that in front of a sold-out crowd of nearly 10,000.

Thanks for making that such a special night, Portland! How about another good one later today?

Right Back to Work

Back to the task at hand, the Hawks face another division rival in the Everett Silvertips with more crucial points on the line in the U.S. Division race.

Portland fell in overtime during the clubs' last meeting and will be keen to bounce back tonight. Everett arrives without reigning WHL Defenseman of the Year Olen Zellweger, who is at world juniors evaluation camp for Team Canada, but remains dangerous with players like Austin Roest and Jackson Berezowski, who each scored in last week's OT contest.

Coming off the high of last night, the key for Portland will be refocusing as they gear up for a new opponent and the excitement of Teddy Bear Toss fades away.

"I've learned throughout my career, you enjoy it after the game but then you get a good night's sleep, rest up and focus on the next day. Big game against Everett tomorrow, and I think we can steal four points this weekend," said Marcus Nguyen following last night's game.

Cagnoni Hits 100

Last night's last-minute hero hit his 100th game in style!

Luca Cagnoni came up clutch with the game-tying tally with 30 seconds to play, helping the Hawks pick up two points against Seattle in his century contest. In those 100 games, the undrafted Cagnoni has quickly become a blueline anchor for the Hawks with 18 goals and 44 assists for 62 points, and has cemented his status as a top prospect for the 2023 NHL Draft with a "B" rating in NHL Central Scouting's preliminary watch list.
