Evan Friesen's power play goal at 14:43 of the opening period proved to be the game winner Sunday night as the Winnipeg ICE beat the Regina Pats 6-1 at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.

Aiden Oiring, Owen Pederson, Vladislav Shilo, Skyler Bruce and Graham Sward also scored as the ICE improved their record to 25-4.

Zach Benson had one assist extending his point streak to four consecutive games (four goals and five assists).

Tanner Howe's 20th goal of the season ended the shutout bid of Winnipeg goaltender Daniel Hauser in the second period.

Matthew Savoie led the ICE with five shots on goal as they outshot the Pats 40-20.

Kelton Pyne suffered the loss in goal for Regina (16-13-1-1), who saw their four-game winning streak come to an end.

Winnipeg went 1/3 on the power play while the Pats were 0/1.

The ICE play their final two games before the holiday break against the Brandon Wheat Kings as the Battle of Manitoba presented by Taylor McCaffery Lawyers resumes Friday at Westoba Place.

The two teams play Saturday night, 7:00 at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
