Hitmen Complete Trade Deadline Deal with Raiders

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club today announced a four-player trade with the Prince Albert Raiders.

The Hitmen have acquired 18-year-old centre Matteo Gennaro, 16-year-old defenceman Ty Prefontaine and a sixth-round selection in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft in exchange for 18-year-old right winger Layne Bensmiller and 18-year-old defenceman Loch Morrison.

"We are pleased to add Matteo, a big centreman with skill and experience," said Mike Moore, Hitmen General Manager and Vice President of Business Operations. "He's an NHL prospect who continues to show strong development, making big strides each season."

Gennaro, a seventh-round pick of the Winnipeg Jets in 2015, has 24 points (12g, 12a) in 42 games with the Raiders this season. In 174 career regular season games, the St. Albert, AB, product has tallied 70 points (33g, 37a). He was a second-round pick of the Raiders, 41st overall, in the 2012 WHL Bantam

"Ty is a versatile two-way defenceman who we project to be a future Hitmen player," added Moore.

Prefontaine is currently playing AAA Midget in his hometown of Saskatoon with the Contacts where he was recently named an all-star defenceman at the 2016 BDO Kelowna International Elite Midget Tournament. He was selected by the Raiders in the fifth round, 96th overall, in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.
