Spokane Chiefs News Release

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs created many chances but only cashed in one, dropping their third straight game by a score of 3-1 to the visiting Everett Silvertips on Sunday night. Wyatt Johnson scored his second goal in a Chiefs uniform in the loss.

The Silvertips opened the scoring with a rebound tap-in by Austria forward Dario Winkler at the 4:33 mark of the first period. Defenseman Tristen Pfeifer pushed a shot on net that bounced into the open on the right side from where the uncovered Winkler chipped it in.

Winger Brandon Ralph scored his third goal of the season to give Everett a 2-0 lead midway through the second period off an assist by Yan Khomenko. Ralph took advantage of a turnover in the Chiefs zone to beat starting goalie Tyson Verhelst through the legs.

Pfeifer scored a goal of his own, his second of the season, with a quick shot to the top-right corner immediately after the Chiefs hit the post on a scoring chance on the other end.

The Chiefs finally found the back of the net as Wyatt Johnson, acquired from Red Deer in a trade on New Year's Day, took a feed from Hudson Elynuik in the left circle and snapped the puck past goaltender Carter Hart to make it 3-1.

The Chiefs outshot the Silvertips 30 to 25 on the night. Both teams were scoreless on the power play.

Spokane will host the Saskatoon Blades on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. for another TicketsWest Player Magnet Giveaway Night at Spokane Arena. Tickets for Wednesday and all Chiefs home games are available via TicketsWest online at www.ticketswest.com and via the Chiefs' Ticket Office over the phone at 509-535-PUCK.
