Hershey Bears News Release

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club play four games in six nights this week, closing out a very successful 2009 and opening up 2010. HERSHEY will play in Norfolk Tuesday night and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Friday before returning to Giant Center this weekend for a pair of rivalry games. The Binghamton Senators visit on Saturday at 7:00 p.m., with Adirondack coming to town Sunday at 5:00 p.m.

Tickets for both games are on sale now at the Giant Center box office or by calling (717) 534-3911.

Aucoin leading the charge: Center Keith Aucoin leads HERSHEY in scoring heading into the new year, and the Waltham, MA native wraps up 2009 leading the team in goals. Known primarily as a playmaker, Aucoin has 16 goals in 26 games this season. He's on pace to shatter his career-high of 27 goals, a mark he reached in 65 games with the Albany River Rats in 2006-07.

The dynamic trio: Left wing Alexandre Giroux, center Keith Aucoin and right wing Andrew Gordon have combined to score 42 goals and 60 assists for 102 points in the first 33 games of the season for HERSHEY. Aucoin ranks 2nd in the league in scoring, Giroux is 4th and Gordon is 5th

overall.

Practice schedule: The BEARS will practice Thursday at Giant Center at 10:00 a.m. and have a brief morning skate Friday at home before departing for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Lots of biscuits, lots of baskets: HERSHEY leads the American Hockey league in goals scored heading into 2010, having scored 127 goals in just 33 games so far this season. The BEARS score an average of 3.85 goals per game (tops in the AHL) and allow just 2.18 goals per game (third best in the league). Only the Manchester Monarchs and Hamilton Bulldogs have allowed fewer goals this season heading into the New Year.

Washington update: The Capitals own the best point total in the Eastern Conference (54) heading into a Monday home date with the Carolina Hurricanes at Verizon Center. The Caps defeated both Buffalo and New Jersey to vault to the top of the conference race. Washington then heads out west to play in San Jose against the Sharks Wednesday night and in Los Angeles Saturday afternoon at Staples Center.
