December 28, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.... The American Hockey League announced today that Lake Erie Monsters right wing Darren Haydar has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 27, 2009. In three games, Haydar scored five goals and added three assists for eight points.
On Tuesday night vs. Rochester, Haydar scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period and recorded an assist as Lake Erie posted a 6-2 victory over the Americans. On Saturday, Haydar's two early goals set the tone and his second-period assist helped seal a 4-2 win over Toronto. And on Sunday, Haydar scored twice more and notched another assist as the Monsters traveled to Ricoh Coliseum and shut out the Marlies, 7-0, in the back end of a home-and-home set.
