Grizzlies Settle For 6-5 Shootout Loss In Phoenix

Phoenix, Arizona - The Phoenix RoadRunners defeated the Utah Grizzlies (15-14-6-6) 6-5 in a shootout Friday night at U.S. Airways Center. The Grizzlies at (2-0-3-4) in their last nine games, still have not lost in regulation since January 7; the longest streak in the ECHL.

Utah led 1-0 before battling back from 3-1 and 4-2 third period deficits to take a 5-4 lead. Phoenix tied the game with exactly a minute to go in regulation to force overtime and then the shootout.

Andy Sertich had two third period goals, added an assist for Utah and drew a penalty in the final period that resulted in the Grizzlies scoring the only power-play goal of the game to tie the contest at four.

In addition, Utah's number-one line of Ryan Kinasewich (one goal, two assists) Rob Hennigar (one goal, two assists) and Tim Verbeek (one goal, one assist) combined for eight Utah points in the game.

Goaltender Dan Turple stopped 38 of 43 shots in his Utah debut after being assigned to the team from the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers earlier in the day.

Utah returns home Wednesday, Friday and Saturday to host Phoenix with all three games starting at 7:05 p.m.
