LAS VEGAS, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers Professional Hockey club hosts "Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich Prison Uniform Night" tonight at 7:30 PM against Bakersfield at the Orleans Arena.

Both teams will wear prison-style uniforms in recognition of recently impeached Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. Fans may purchase the game-worn jersey through an auction that starts after tonight's game on the team's website at www.lasvegaswranglers.com.

The Wranglers are wearing uniforms that feature broad, horizontal black and white stripes and an identification number that begins "ILLGOV-" followed by each player's actual uniform number. The visiting Bakersfield Condors will wear jerseys fashioned after the orange jumpsuits typical of Department of Corrections issue. On-ice officials for the game will wear blue jerseys designed with buttons, pockets, ECHL badges, and a black neck tie with gold tie clip. All of the uniforms will be auctioned to benefit the team's charitable efforts.

The Illinois Senate on Thursday voted unanimously to remove impeached Governor Rod Blagojevich from office. Blagojevich was arrested on federal corruption charges in December. Federal authorities allege, among other things, that he was trying to sell or trade the Senate seat that became vacant after Barack Obama was elected president. After the governor's arrest, the state House voted overwhelmingly to impeach him. The Senate vote was 59-0.

The Wranglers have a history of oddball promotions. In 2006 the team held Dick Cheney Hunting Vest Night following a shooting mishap which injured 78-year-old Harry Whittington. The team often wears specialty uniforms to support themes and causes. They play one game each season that begins at midnight, and an annual Over-18 game that caters to a more mature audience.

The Las Vegas Wranglers are the ECHL affiliate to the NHL's Calgary Flames and play their home games at the Orleans Arena, just west of the famed Las Vegas Strip.
