Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
JOHNSTOWN, PA - Alex Parent and Jason Tejchma each scored for Mississippi, but it wasn't enough as the Johnstown Chiefs rolled to a 5-2 victory behind a hat-trick from Petr Pohl and a pair of goals from Jarrett Konkle at the Cambria County War Memorial Friday night.
Johnstown grabbed the lead 3:49 into the first period when a defensive miscue at the Sea Wolves blue line resulted in a two-on-one break for Johnstown, with Todd Griffith feed a pass to Petr Pohl that he hammered home for his first goal of the game. Pohl extended Johnstown's lead when Blair Yaworski fed him in the low slot on a give-and-go with the Chiefs on the power play at 10:51 of the first period.
Alex Parent's 11th goal of the season drew Mississippi within one when he backhanded Ryan Cruthers' pass over Chiefs goaltender Kris Mayotte's left pad at 17:10 of the opening frame.
Jason Tejchma redirected a centering feed from Mark Rooneem to draw the game even at two 1:21 into the second period. Pohl then completed his hat-trick and gave Johnstown the lead for good when Mike Bartlett fed him in the left circle and he fired the puck past Sea Wolves netminder Ryan Munce at 5:10 of the second.
Jarrett Konkle added insurance goals for the Chiefs at 15:12 of the second period and 5:54 of the third period as the Chiefs cruised to a 5-2 win.
Ryan Munce made 23 saves on 28 shots to earn the loss, and the Sea Wolves power play was 0-for-4.
