Dayton Bombers News Release

Dayton, OH - Despite a strong offensive push in the third period, the Bombers were unable to overcome the Cincinnati Cyclones, eventually falling 3-2 at the Ervin J. Nutter Center on Friday night.

The Cyclones took a 1-0 lead in the first when Mark Van Guilder scored a power play goal just three and a half minutes into the contest. The Bombers outshot the Cyclones 12-3 in the frame, but could not find the back of the net.

In the second it was more Cincinnati, who put a pair of pucks past Dayton's Paul Drew. Much like Tuesday night's game against the Elmira Jackals, the Bombers were significantly outshooting their opponent after two periods, this time 22-11.

However, the Bombers would not give up, as Tomas Zaborsky put the team on the board a mere 54 seconds into the third period. He was assisted on the play by Kelly Perrault and Nino Musitelli. Shortly after, on the power play, the Bombers thought they had cut the Cyclones lead to one, but the goal was waived off by referee Keith Kaval. Looking to make up the lost goal, Dan Riedel netted his team-leading 17th of the season (and 11th on the power play), from Dominic D'Amour and Perrault. Despite handful of late power play opportunities and opting to pull the goalie for an extra attacker, the Bombers were unable to net an equalizer.

The Bombers outshot the Cyclones 35-17; Drew was 14 of 17 in the losing effort. Dayton went 1 of 8 on the power play and 4 of 6 on the penalty kill.
