Goaltender Helenius Recalled To Tampa Bay Lightning

BILOXI, MS - The Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League have recalled goaltender Riku Helenius from the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League. Helenius began the week with the Mississippi Sea Wolves, traveling with the team to Johnstown, Pa. before being recalled to the Admirals.

Helenius, a 6-foot-3, 202-pound goaltender from Palkane, Finland, did not appear in a game with the Sea Wolves after being assigned to Mississippi last week. In 11 ECHL games this season, Helenius is 4-5-2 with a 3.80 GAA and .896 save percentage. He has gone 1-1-1 in three games with the Sea Wolves, posting a 3.53 GAA and .944 save percentage. The 20-year-old went 3-4-1 in his first eight games of North American professional hockey with the Augusta Lynx this season, recording a win in his North American pro debut, stopping 44 of 46 shots on October 21 at Gwinnett.

Helenius has appeared in one game with the Admirals this season. He made his AHL debut in relief on January 2 in Worcester, stopping 11 of 12 shots without receiving a decision. Helenius appeared in two preseason games for the Admirals, going 1-1-0 with a 4.00 goals-against average and .840 save percentage.
