Grizzlies Name McKinnon President
November 7, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies CEO Kevin Bruder announced today that Jim McKinnon has been named the team's new President/COO.
McKinnon joins the Grizzlies after previously serving as President of the ECHL's Fresno Falcons where he also oversaw sales and operations for the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game at Save Mart Center.
Prior to being named the Falcons President, he was Vice President of Corporate Sponsorship Sales/Assistant General Manager for the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers. McKinnon was with Las Vegas from their inception and was responsible for helping to build the foundation for the expansion team. While part of the team's upper management, the Wranglers consistently were among the top ECHL teams in ticket sales and were recognized as the league's ticket sales department of the year in 2005-2006.
McKinnon began his professional career as an intern with the Fresno Falcons in 2001 following his graduation from Fresno Pacific University with a degree in marketing. During his time with the Falcons, he cut his sports marketing teeth and quickly moved up the ranks.
"We are riding some tremendous momentum from our first two ECHL seasons and look forward to building off of that with Jim," said Bruder. The Grizzlies ranked second in the ECHL in attendance gain last year with over a 10-percent increase off of the previous year. Utah currently ranks ninth in the 25-team ECHL in attendance averaging 4,895 through two home games.
