RoadRunners Acquire Forward Ryan Walsh

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks and the Worcester Sharks, have acquired forward Ryan Walsh from the Gwinnett Gladiators in exchange for future considerations.

Walsh, 27, has one goal, one assist, and 10 penalty minutes in six games with Gwinnett. The Orleans, Ontario native and second-year professional tallied 14 goals and 29 points in 45 games as a rookie in 2006-07 with Kaufbeuren ESV of the German Bundesliga.

Prior to turning pro, Walsh played five years of collegiate hockey at St. Francis Xavier University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he registered 50 goals and 108 points in 119 career games. Walsh also spent four seasons with Toronto St. Michael's of the Ontario Hockey League from 1997-2001 collecting 58 goals and 153 points in 249 games with the Majors.

Walsh is expected to the join the RoadRunners' line-up in time for Saturday's series opener against the Las Vegas Wranglers.

The RoadRunners continue their season opening 12-game home-stand at 7:11 p.m. Wednesday as they play the middle game of a three-game series with the Stockton Thunder at US Airways Center.
