Wheeling Nailers News Release
CINCINNATI, OH - Cincinnati Cyclones' goaltender Cedrick Desjardins stopped 26 shots to earn his second consecutive shutout in a 4-0 win over the Wheeling Nailers Wednesday night at US Bank Arena in Cincinnati.
Jean-Michel Daoust opened the scoring on a one-timer at 13:34 of the first period. With the Cyclones on the power play, Gerard Miller pumped a shot from the center point before feeding Daoust in the faceoff circle for the goal. It was Daoust's first of the season.
It took Cincinnati just 69 seconds into the second frame to increase their lead to two. Billy Irish-Baker netted his first of two on the night on a great feed from David Desharnais. Thomas Beauregard increased the Cyclones' lead to three with his tally at 11:01. The Nailers were caught in a line change and Trevor Howells' pass sprung Beauregard in behind the defense on David Brown.
Irish-Baker added his second of the game with 3:23 remaining in the third.
Brown was peppered with 35 shots and has seen at least that many in each of this three starts this season. Sean Collins six-game point streak was halted.
Wheeling entered the game with the second-best power play in the league (26.5%) but came up empty on eight power-play opportunities in this game.
The Nailers return to the ice Friday night at home against the Reading Royals at 7:35. It is Casino Night and showing your Wheeling Island Players Club card will earn you $2 off the ticket price at the box office.
