Idaho Steelheads News Release
BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads today announced that goaltender John Daigneau has been traded to the Pensacola Pilots for future considerations.
Daigneau was placed on the 7-day injured reserve list on Nov. 1 and was activated today before the trade.
Steelheads head coach Derek Laxdal said of the move, "John is a great kid and we wish him the best. With Silverthorn coming back to us from Iowa, we had one too many goaltenders and John said he'd rather have the opportunity to get some playing time; Pensacola should prove to be that place for him."
Daigneau, a Harvard University graduate, was a member of the Steelheads 2007 Kelly Cup Championship Team. The 6-4, 195-pound netminder finished last season with 5-6-0 record and a 3.02 GAA. He finished his Ivy League career with a 2.40 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage; both rank third in Crimson history.
The Steelheads embark on a three-game series with the Alaska Aces tonight at Qwest Arena. Idaho is 15-14-3 in regular season ECHL action against the Aces, including a 3-3-0 mark last season. The Steelheads defeated the Aces four-games-to-one in the 2007 Conference Finals before going on to win their second ECHL title in four seasons.
