Boise, ID- Four straight Alaska Aces' shooters scored in the shootout, as the visitors came-from-behind to beat the Steelheads 4-3 in front of 3,053 fans at Qwest Arena on Wednesday night.

The shootout defeat extends the Steelheads (2-2-4) winless streak to three games (0-2-1), while the Aces (5-2-1) pick up their third road win and move into first place in the West Division.

After the Steelheads took a 2-0 lead in the shootout, Kimbi Daniels, F.P. Guenette, Barrett Heisten and Matt Shasby scored consecutively for the Aces. Goals by Lance Galbraith and Aaron Gagnon gave the Steelheads an advantage early in the shootout but Mark Bomersback was the only home skater to tally in their last three opportunities.

Late in the first period the two clubs traded goals forcing a 1-1 draw into the first intermission. At 17:32 of the opening period, the Aces connected on a power play with a tap-in by Shasby, his second of the year. Heisten and Peter Metcalf set up the tally, which was the Aces third power play goal in the last two games.

Just 58 seconds later Bomersback recorded his team-leading sixth goal of the season to even the score at one. With a delayed penalty coming up to the Aces, Greg Rallo carried the puck into the offensive zone and dropped the puck off to Bomersback and his wrister found its way through traffic and past Derek Gustafson (24 saves). Defenseman Jeremy Scherlinck grabbed the second helper on the marker.

The Aces power play struck again at 5:53 of the second period on Josh Soares' fourth of the campaign. On the play, Soares took a feed from defenseman Bryan Miller and ripped a left circles shot past Steve Silverthorn (22 saves). F.P. Guenette also picked up an assist on Soares' fourth of the season.

Once again the Steelheads answered, getting a goal by Matt Craig at 7:29. Craig's first as a Steelhead came after a nifty stick handling play in the offensive zone, where the London, Ontario native deked past a sliding Aces' defenseman before snapping the puck past Gustafson's blocker side.

Taggart Desmet put the Steelheads in front 3-2 with his second of the year on the power play at 15:50, as defenseman Kory Scoran pinched in from the left point and flipped the puck into the Aces' crease where Desmet redirected it past Gustafson.

Aces' center Olivier Filion notched his third of the season to tie the contest at three with less than eight minutes left in regulation setting the stages for overtime. Shasby and Metcalf picked up the assists.

Through regulation the shots favored the Steelheads 25-22 with the Aces getting three shots in overtime and the Steelheads registering two chances. The Steelheads went one-for-six on the power play and the Aces went two-for-five.

The Steelheads continue their series with the Alaska Aces on Friday, November 9. The puck drops at 7:10 p.m. MST. All the action can be heard live on 1350 AM, KTIK "The Ticket" or via the B2 Networks.
