Grizzlies Hit The Road For California
November 12, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
NEWS AND NOTES
Righting The Ship
The 3-6-2 start for the Grizzlies is reminiscent to the 3-9-2 start that Head Coach Jason Christie's Peoria Rivermen began the 2004-2005 season with. Peoria then caught fire, finishing the year 35-17-6 for an overall record of 38-26-8. Last year's Utah team started 2-3 before rattling off a team-record nine-straight wins. In his seventh season as an ECHL Head Coach, Christie has never had a losing record.
Homecoming For Greg Spenrath
When Utah visits Fresno Wednesday, it will be the first professional return to the city for Utah Assistant Coach Greg Spenrath since leading the Falcons to a 39-25-8 record in 2004-2005 as their Head Coach. Along with two seasons played with Utah, Spenrath was with Fresno as either a player or coach from 1995-2005. The team retired his number 27 in 2002.
Morning Hockey
Tuesday in Bakersfield, the Grizzlies will play their first morning game since February 8, 2005 at Houston. The Condors are combining a school field trip day and a businessperson's special. Face-off is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. mountain time.
Take Note
Tuesday's game with Bakersfield and Wednesday's game with Fresno are the result of an ECHL approved schedule change which prevented the Grizzlies from having to play a night game in Fresno Tuesday and a morning game in Bakersfield Wednesday morning.
