
Wranglers Bit By Dogs 7-6 in Overtime

Long Beach, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (4-1-6, 14 Points) were defeated by the Long Beach Ice Dogs (2-8-2, 6 Points) 7-6 in overtime at the Long Beach Arena on Sunday night. Chris Collins scored the game-winning goal at 2:25 of overtime to lift the Ice Dogs to victory. The Wranglers come back bid fell short after Las Vegas scored two goals in the last two minutes to force overtime. Long Beach winger Mark Hurtubise recorded the hat trick and added two assists for a five-point night. Six different Wranglers scored in the loss. Las Vegas will play in Phoenix at 6:11 pm on Tuesday.
Las Vegas jumped out to a 3-1 lead after one period of play and it started early. Former Ice Dog Lucas Lawson put the Wranglers on the board just 2:25 into the opening period for the 1-0 lead. Winger Marco Peluso snapped in his third goal of the season at 6:58 to extend the lead to 2-0. The Wranglers capitalized on a power play at 17:40, extending the lead to 3-0 as Shawn Limpright scored his third goal of the season. The Ice Dogs answered back just 13-seconds later, Mark Hurtubise scored his second of the season to cut the Las Vegas lead to 3-1.
In the second period, Long Beach outscored Las Vegas 3-1 to force a 4-4 tie heading into the third period. Just over one minute into the second period, Wes Goldie tallied his fifth goal of the season to trim the Wranglers lead to 3-2. The Ice Dogs tied the game at three as Chris Collins scored his fifth goal of the season at the 9:00 marker. Las Vegas countered to reclaim the lead at 4-3 as rookie Adam Cracknell scored at 9:35 of the second period. Long Beach tied the game at 4-4 as Mark Hurtubise deflected a shot in front of the net at 15:42, picking up his second goal of the night.
In the third period, the Ice Dogs opened up a two-goal lead with Hurtubise completing the hat trick at 2:27 of the third period. Mark Schwartz deflected a power-play goal at 9:19 to make it a 6-4 Long Beach lead. The Wranglers pulled goalie Mike McKenna for the extra skater with less than two minutes remaining. Defenseman Ryan Bonni cut the Ice Dogs lead to 6-5 with his first goal of the season at 18:28. With 10-seconds remaining, defenseman Jason Jozsa tied the game at six with his fourth goal of the season.
In overtime, Las Vegas forward Adam Cracknell was whistled for elbowing, giving the Ice Dogs a power play. Chris Collins scored the game-winning goal on the power play just 27-seconds after Cracknell's penalty, giving Long Beach the 7-6 overtime win.
Las Vegas will return home on Sunday, November 26th at 5:05 pm top face the Bakersfield Condors at the Orleans Arena. The first 2,000 fans receive a Mullet Wig with a pink headband.
