February 21, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
The Situation
The Grizzlies head to Victoria with a 28-21-4-1 record and three points behind Alaska for first place in the Mountain Division. The Grizzlies have 18 games left on the season. Nine will be at home and nine will be played on the road. The remaining road games are all Mountain Division games. All road games will be played against the Pacific Division.
Off To Canada
Utah heads to Victoria for the first time since last April Friday and Saturday. The Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre is the last Western Conference venue that Utah will visit this year. It marks the first of five-straight road games in Victoria, as Utah will also return March 16, 18 and 19.
Against The Salmon Kings
Utah is 2-1 this year against Victoria, with all three games being played at Maverik Center. Utah shutout the Salmon Kings 1-0 on December 31 and won 2-0 on January 1. Utah carries a streak of 146:21 of not allowing a goal to Victoria.
In Victoria
Utah is 5-2-0-2 in Victoria with Kevin Colley as Head Coach.
Ferguson
Acting Utah captain Simon Ferguson's score Saturday was his team-leading 17th goal of the year. Ferguson has 11 goals and six assists for 17 points in his last 18 games.
First Two Points Of The Year
Stay at home defenseman Brian Kilburg totaled his first two points of the year this weekend with two assists in three games to finish the week.
Shooting The Puck
Matt Clarke, who has spent minimal time as a forward this year, is fourth in the ECHL among defensemen with 117 shots on net. Recalled teammate Nick Tuzzolino is tied for second with 119.
Recalls
After a busy week of call-ups, Utah now has four players from their opening day roster in the AHL, including both goaltenders in J.P. Lamoureux and Andrew Engelage and the team's top two defensemen in Jake Gannon and Nick Tuzzolino.
Winning 2010-2011 AHL Debut, ETC
Andrew Engelage stopped 25 of 28 shots Saturday in his season-debut for the Toronto Marlies and earned a 4-3 shootout win. He is making his second-straight start today against San Antonio. Nick Tuzzolino collected one assist in his first four games with Portland last week.
Back Home
Utah returns home March 4 and 5 to open a six-game home stand starting with Ontario.
